AirPods Pro Noise Cancellation

The AirPods Pro feature two listening modes that can assist reduce background noise. The Noise Cancellation function filters out almost all background noises, making it useful in busy environments where you need to hear your audio clearly.

Transparency mode muffles background noise, allowing you to hear it but not interfering with your audio. This is a wonderful alternative for public situations where you still need to hear announcements or be aware of your surroundings.

How does the noise-cancelling function on the AirPods Pro work?

For the AirPods Pro, Apple employs its own active noise cancellation technology. The system has two microphones, one facing within and one facing outward. The outward-facing microphone analyzes and identifies outside noise so that the system may create an anti-noise waveform to neutralize it. The inward-facing microphone detects and suppresses any noise that escapes from the exterior microphone before it reaches your ears.

Apple says that their software allows noise reduction to be tweaked 200 times per second. This is feasible because to their innovative H1 chip technology. Still, no headphone set can completely eliminate ambient noise, since all technologies focus on reducing background noise.

How to Enable Noise Cancellation on AirPods Pro

With a lengthy push on the stem of either bud until you hear a chime, you may switch between Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. There are two alternatives if you prefer to use your iPhone.

Open Control Center and then press the audio control. Click the Noise Control icon, then select Noise Cancellation or Transparency, or just tap Off to disable Noise Control entirely. You may alternatively go to Settings > Bluetooth > [Your AirPods info icon], then select Noise Cancellation, Off, or Transparency under Noise Control.

The AirPods Pro adopts an in-canal design with three sets of replacement tips for small, medium, and large ear canal sizes. 

Take an Ear Tip Fit test to find which of the three size tips will provide the best seal and sound.

What about outside disturbances that may disrupt a meeting?

Unfortunately the Apple AirPods Pro do not filter out sounds for others as well. You may need to use some additional apps like Krisp to remove background noise in real-time.
